¿Cómo se fusionan la memoria y la realidad cuando se trata de la pintura y el retrato de sujetos? A través de un imaginario enrevesado, efervescente de simbolismo, Ivana Flores habita en su obra diferentes campos de experiencia simultánea: la realidad, el sueño, la vida cotidiana y la imaginación se funden en un punto de inflexión de la conciencia ilimitada de la autoimagen y el mundo. Bajo un tema singular, la realidad interior de las cosas, las formas caprichosas van y vienen entre la representación sólida y los aspectos más primarios de la experiencia humana, liberando lo sensorial y lo visible de abstracciones opacas y localizando la vulnerabilidad.
Siguiendo el ejemplo de la grandeza épica de la pintura histórica, Flores construye su obra como una historia primigenia atemporal con arquetipos, tanto antropomórficos como zoomorfos, yuxtaponiendo eras y configuraciones. Su realismo crítico, con inflexión de magia, difumina la delgada línea entre lo representable y lo imaginable, ampliando la práctica artística a los enunciados directos dirigidos al espectador, mediante la reducción de la distancia visual. Siempre cálidas y acogedoras, las pinturas centradas en las mujeres de la exposición adquieren la dureza de un mundo sin hogar, al crear en él un lugar seguro pero fluido para la alegría y la felicidad, la expectativa y la esperanza.

How do memory and reality merge when it comes to painting and portraiture of subjects? Through a convoluted imaginary, effervescent of symbolism, Ivana Flores inhabits different fields of simultaneous experience in her work: reality, dreams, daily life and imagination merge at a point of inflection of the unlimited awareness of self-image and the world. Under a singular theme, the inner reality of things, whimsical shapes go back and forth between solid representation and the most primary aspects of human experience, freeing the sensory and the visible from opaque abstractions and locating vulnerability. Following the example of the epic grandeur of historical painting, Flores constructs her work as a timeless primal story with archetypes, both anthropomorphic and zoomorphic, juxtaposing eras and configurations. Her critical realism, inflected by magic, blurs the fine line between the representable and the imaginable, expanding artistic practice to direct statements directed at the viewer, by reducing visual distance. Always warm and welcoming, the women-centered paintings in the exhibition take on the harshness of a homeless world, creating in it a safe but fluid place for joy and happiness, expectation and hope.
